Cort Guitars unveils the Core-OC Collection, featuring three premium all-solid acoustic guitars from the new Core Series.

The Core-OC guitars feature the best materials, components, and workmanship for instruments that will improve with age. When sound quality is the priority, each Core-OC model delivers the performance and tone players envision in a great acoustic guitar.

Acacia melanoxylon, commonly known as the Australian blackwood, is an Acacia species native in South eastern Australia. The species is also known as Blackwood, hickory, mudgerabah, Tasmanian blackwood, or blackwood acacia.Wikipedia

Cort designed the new Core Series with simplicity in mind. The three models, the Core-OC Blackwood, Core-OC Spruce, and Core-OC Mahogany, exemplify rustic, natural beauty and tone. Each guitar is built with a 25.3-inch scale and an OM (orchestra model) cutaway body and slightly narrower nut (1 11/16 inch, 43 mm) that’s ideal for players with a smaller frame or for those who otherwise seek playing comfort. The OM body yields a bright and stronger high-midrange that’s well suited for fingerpicking, while the Venetian cutaway provides excellent access to the high frets. Underneath the surface, Cort’s hand-scalloped X-bracing further helps to lighten the load and free up added top vibration.

The Core-OC models each feature an attractive open pore finish that enhances the resonance of the tonewoods and also helps to reduce the weight of the guitar for improved playability. The Core-OC Blackwood, in Open Pore Light Burst finish, and Core-OC Mahogany, in Open Pore Black Burst finish, offer all-solid construction in their respective tonewoods. The Spruce model’s solid Sitka spruce top, with Open Pore Trans Black finish, delivers a popular wood choice balanced by mahogany back and sides, which have been a longstanding favorite on premium acoustics for their warm tone and full, rich midrange.

Each Core-OC model offers a dovetail neck joint with meticulous workmanship that transfers the body’s vibration and resonance to the mahogany neck. To further improve the transfer of string vibrational energy, both the nut and saddle are bone. The seamless design of the Core-OC translates well to the elegant, smooth 20-fret ovangkol fingerboard, which corresponds to the ovangkol bridge. At the headstock, black diecast machine heads provide tuning stability as well as rock-solid functionality.

Cort’s main goal with the Core Series is to shed away any non-essential flashy features and stay focused on what truly makes acoustic guitars great. That design philosophy is exemplified with the Fishman Sonitone pickup system, which helps the natural tones of the Core-OC models shine. The undersaddle piezo is installed internally without cutting out any of the wood, and the EQ retains all the natural resonance and pure acoustic sound that other systems simply can’t. The controls are simple to use as well, with only Volume and Tone.

Through premium material selection and Cort’s world-class craftsmanship, the new Core-OC acoustic guitars are simple yet elegant with great playability and natural acoustic sound. The included Deluxe Soft-Side Case is not only stylish and sleek, but also combines the best attributes of a hard case with the flexibility of a padded gig-bag for superb protection and portability.

Pricing for both the mahogany and spruce Core-OC models is $499.99 USD with case. The Blackwood Core-OC retails for $549.99 USD with case.
