What is the verdict on these premium earbuds after 2 months of daily use?

This is my second set of Pro X earbuds…can we just call them buds? OK, the first set that I reviewed way back in 2025 were accidentally bricked by me, and Status Audio has to share in the bricking, when, mid-review, the app alerted me to update the firmware. Unfortunately, the app I was using was not made for the Pro X. I was using pre-release buds and their dedicated app was not yet released…so, I could not complete the review. An audio marvel reduced to beautiful masonry.
Note to self – always double, triple-check that the firmware update matches the hardware.
How are the Pro X buds as daily drivers?
- Sound quality: The most important feature of any audio device is the audio. The Pro X delivers punchy, deep bass, clear mids and extended highs. Beyond how good they sound using one of the 5 stock presets, you have the ability to fine tune the sound to your liking with the in-app 8 band graphic equalizer.
- Comfort and fit: So light and delicate that its easy to forget them in your ear. Easy to get optimal fit for full bass response. They stay in your ear even when walking briskly, working on the yard or going to the gym. Comfortable to wear all day with no fatigue.
- Call quality: Incoming calls are loud and clear. I asked everyone that I spoke with on the phone to give me their impression. Comments included: “sounds clear, full and bassy” “sounds like your FM radio voice” “sounds more like you than the phone”. Everyone I asked liked the sound of the Pro X vs my S24+.
- App features: This app is loaded with useful stock features and full customization over audio and touch controls. The only thing not customizable are the physical buttons.
- Battery charge: I never went to zero. But, I automatically plug in my devices when not in use. An alert will tell you when the charge is low on an individual bud.
- Carry case: The case combines metal and plastic in a secure and light weight package that slips easily into your front pocket – or purse.
- Security: Ever misplace your buds? The app can find your buds on the map and display the distance, or, it can play an alert tone for each bud. I found the alert tone loud enough to hear from several rooms away in a large house. The alert tone will not work if the buds are in the case.
Final thoughts
The Status Pro X earbuds combine modern industrial styling with superior audio quality and comprehensive functionality. As far as full range and pleasing music listening they hold their own against premium, professional Sennheiser and Audeze headphones…but, to be fair, they are not studio phones. I would use them for tracking if I had a way to connect them to my interface. I really enjoy using them while watching youtube podcasts and listening to Amazon music. I don’t leave the house without them.
