Fusing authentic 1960s vibe with modern performance upgrades, the Newark St. Starfire family spans high-end Custom models down to accessible Starfire I entry points. Historically favored by icons like John Lennon, Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, and Jack Casady, the line delivers vintage tone paired with contemporary playability.
Series Breakdown & Key Features
- Starfire Custom: The flagship tier featuring DeArmond® Dynasonic single-coil pickups, ebony fingerboards, extensive purfling/binding, mother-of-pearl inlays, tortoise pickguards, and optional gold hardware (GH models).
- Starfire Deluxe: Middle-tier workhorses powered by high-output HB-2+ humbuckers (Alnico V). Features rosewood fingerboards with block inlays, ivory binding, and classic Chesterfield headstock inlays.
- Starfire Deluxe Bass: A modern evolution of the classic Starfire Bass II equipped with dual BS-1 BiSonic single-coil pickups for deep, mid-focused 1960s rock tones. Available in Sweet Tea and Teal the Deal finishes.
- Starfire I Series: Versatile, entry-level semi-hollows offered in 6-string, 12-string, and left-handed models. Powered by either HB-2 humbuckers or Franz P-90 single-coils (Alnico II), with select models featuring Guild Vibrato tailpieces.
