At Rue Boyer, the flagship Paris tracking facility for Mix with the Masters, AEA ribbon microphones have anchored the studio’s daily recording workflows.
Designed to operate as both a high-end commercial tracking facility and the primary production hub for Mix with the Masters’ educational video series, Rue Boyer regularly hosts global producers, engineers, and artists. Across diverse tracking demands—from intimate piano sessions to dynamic pop records and complex film scores—the studio’s AEA ribbon collection has become an essential tool in its live rooms and ISO booths.
Dedicated Booth Rigs & Studio Placements
The studio operates two primary tracking spaces: Studio A, built around a 48-channel SSL E-Series console with dedicated vocal, drum, and piano booths, and Studio B, featuring a vintage API 2448 board. Across both environments, specific AEA models have earned permanent positions:
- Drum Booth (AEA R84 Pair): Serves as the primary drum booth room pair, utilized on high-profile projects including Justice’s Hyperdrama and Charli XCX’s Music, Fashion, Film.
- Piano Booth (AEA KU4 Pair): A pair of directional KU4 ribbon mics remains continuously deployed in the piano booth, complementing close mics with low-end weight and smooth top-end roll-off.
- Specialty Tracking (AEA R88 Stereo Ribbon): Used as the primary main stereo capture mic for rare acoustic and experimental instruments—including the cristal Baschet, ondes Martenot, and glass harmonica—played by Thomas Bloch for the 2026 film score Project Hail Mary.
- Re-Amping & Ambient FX (AEA R44): Frequently placed in non-traditional spaces, including the studio lounge, to capture natural room acoustics and re-amped reverb trails.
