The VON FRANKENSTEIN MONSTER humbucker features 12 proprietary custom hex bolt pole pieces, three oversized ceramic magnets, and meticulously hand wound bobbins. These components work together to forge a sound engineered for power, clarity, and unrelenting impact. Dozens of prototypes were tested and carefully evaluated by legendary Misfit’s guitarist, Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein to craft a pickup capable of delivering the performance his playing style demands. Every design choice was driven by the pursuit of an unmistakably monstrous tone, one that reflects the ferocity and intensity that Doyle has long sought to create his own sonic identity.
A black nickel–plated nickel steel base plate and a black powder-coated, open-faced cover provide both durability and visual menace while protecting the delicate custom coils within. The large hex bolt surface offers compatibility with both 49.2mm and 53mm string-spaced guitars, making the pickup universally adaptable across a wide range of electric guitar platforms.
More than its striking appearance, the science behind the VON FRANKENSTEIN MONSTER is what truly sets it apart. Inductance plays a crucial role in shaping its voice, with the balance of unique wind patterns on each bobbin and the use of steel throughout contributing to an exceptionally tight low end. Resistance averages 13.3 kOhms and inductance averages 7.4H. This careful engineering ensures clarity and definition even at extreme stage volumes, avoiding muddiness while keeping sheer, crushing power.
