The Strand, at 5th and PCH, is Huntington Beach’s “alternate” downtown. It is more “upscale”, post-modern and laid-back than the scene at the HB Pier, Pier Plaza and Main Street. Its a great place to get away from the massive crowds on summer weekends. They have special events on the Strand – free concerts, art walk, store specials – and several excellent restaurants. During the US Open of Surfing the Strand is the site for many special surfing related events, concerts and celebrity signings. Bands at the 2011 US Open Strand Concerts include; Patrick Stump, Penny Reel, The Zoggs, The Chris Murray Combo, A B & The Sea, Rye Rye, Miguel, Jason Derulo, The B Foundation and Schwayze.
