THE COVID-19 NOVEL CORONAVIRUS, officially declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization, has disrupted everything from global financial markets to individuals’ most mundane daily activities. It’s no surprise, then, that the music products industry is being affected as well. Below are some of the major industry events that have been canceled or postponed:
The Frankfurt Musikmesse and Prolight + Sound Fair were postponed due to concerns for public health. The Prolight + Sound fair has been rescheduled for May 26-29.
The 2020 Music Guangzhou International Musical Instruments Exhibition, originally scheduled for February 19-22, was postponed. New dates for the show have yet to be announced.
Audio and video software and interface giant Avid Technology canceled the Avid Connect 2020 Conference, scheduled for mid-April in Las Vegas, as well as its participation in the 2020 NAB convention.
PRS Guitars, currently celebrating its 35th anniversary, has canceled Experience PRS 2020. A company communication said, “The health and safety of our employees, guests, artists, dealers, distributors, and partners is our primary concern.”
