From Philadelphia’s hardcore scene to the Grammy stage, Will Yip shares how he built one of rock music’s most influential production careers using Apollo interfaces and UAD plug-ins

Yip has spent the last two decades turning a community-rooted hustle in Philadelphia into one of rock’s most influential production careers. From sweeping floors at a local studio at age 12 to winning a Grammy for Rock Album of the Year, he’s produced genre-defining records for Turnstile, Title Fight, Superheaven, Sleeping With Sirens, and so many more.
In this Apollo Creators episode, Yip breaks down his journey from obsessed kid to studio owner, his philosophy of treating every artist as a bandmate, and why UA tools have been at the center of his workflow from the very beginning — from the LA-2A on the main vocals in Never Enoughto the Apollos that defined records like Title Fight’s Floral Green.
“It was hardcore that gave me a place. It was punk that gave me a safe haven,” says Will Yip. “That’s why I just want to give back. Because music is for everyone, and everybody knows how to rock.”
