DigiTech® announces its latest Whammy Family innovation, The DigiTech HammerOn™ pedal
HammerOn is an instantaneous pitch-shifting machine allowing footswitch control over pitch jumps. Now guitarists can use their feet to hammer-on creating faster, more intricate notes and riffs not previously accessible by hand alone. The result is next level sonic insanity.
The DigiTech HammerOn pedal allows guitarists to select from 27 available pitches from 2 octaves down to 2 octaves up. Sixteen Pitch Select LEDs show the current pitch shift level. The upper Pitch Shift LEDs are labeled at standard major scale intervals. The bottom Pitch Shift LEDs are for shifting down. The Selector knob sets the pitch shift amount for the two footswitches, PITCH 1 and PITCH 2, and adjusts the TRILL speed which mimics rapid presses on the footswitch. The PITCH 1 footswitch is dedicated specifically to the hammer-on effect. Pressing the footswitch will jump the pitch to the selected shift value; while releasing it returns the pitch back to its previous unshifted note.
The PITCH 2 footswitch kicks the HammerOn into high gear with a touch of the MODE button. HAMMER-ON mode, IMPOSSIBLE mode, and SEQUENCE mode are easily accessed through the PITCH 2 footswitch. HAMMER-ON mode offers a second momentary pitch jump that immediately reverts to the original unshifted note. The IMPOSSIBLE mode alternates between two momentary pitch shifts giving the player the ability to “pull off the impossible!” SEQUENCE mode can be programmed for 2-note, 3-note and 5-note pitch shifts and can be set to PlayOnce, Retrigger, or Loop. The DRY+ button adds dry, unprocessed guitar signal to a pitch-shifted signal to create harmony riffs.
One of the most requested products is a “Capo” pedal. The HammerOn can latch and capo/drop your guitar’s pitch up to a full octave, allowing for Nashville tuning, or drop it down an octave, lowering the overall pitch without the need to retune. What sets this apart is the ability to use multiple tunings within a single song. You could switch from a Capo’d octave (octave up) to a 7-string (drop 5) tuning in the same song or change tunings just by stepping on the pedal for the next song—no need to switch guitars.
The Classic DigiTech Whammy mode and the Chords Mode from the Whammy DT can also be accessed via the DRY+ button. Clicking both PITCH 1 and PITCH 2 together creates a True Bypass of the signal. The DigiTech HammerOn offers guitarists an infinite array of mind-boggling guitar possibilities.
