The TV-10 A head is designed for players seeking the characteristically bright clean sounds and hot lead tones associated with American Class A amplification. This 10-watt dynamic tube head uses an ECC83 preamp tube paired with a 6L6 power tube. When pushed hard via the master volume, the 6L6 produces a hot lead tone with natural compression, offering a playing experience that moves effortlessly from glassy cleans to crunchy overdrives. To complement this head, Blackstar has developed the TV-10 A 112 cabinet, a vintage-styled 1×12” enclosure loaded with a Celestion A-Type speaker to best capture the nuances of the 6L6 power stage.
For those preferring the iconic grit and mid-pushed character of British amplification, the TV-10 B head provides a traditional British Class A experience. This model features the classic combination of an ECC83 preamp and an EL34 power stage. The TV-10 B is designed for elegant simplicity, allowing players to quickly dial in “plug-in-and-play” tones ranging from warm cleans to classic British crunch. It is paired with the TV-10 B 112 cabinet, which features a 12” Celestion V-Type speaker specifically chosen to enhance the EL34’s growl and harmonic character.
Both models include professional features intended to bridge the gap between vintage tone and modern utility. Each head features a footswitchable custom-voiced reverb, developed through extensive research into vintage tube amplifier reverb tanks, and comes included with an FS-4S footswitch. For recording and direct mixing, Blackstar has included an emulated line output that takes the signal after the power amp and output transformer. This allows users to capture the authentic saturation of the Class A power stage directly via a stereo/TRS cable. Additionally, both heads feature a series effects loop and premium vintage styling to match their sophisticated tonal capabilities.
