Blackbird Guitars – Carbon Fiber from San Francisco, CA

This was the year for cardon fiber at NAMM in many shapes and forms and on several new guitars, notably the Blackbirds. Rainsong from Hawaii pioneered the all carbon fiber acoustic and now the mainlanders have created some innovative hi-tech instruments of their own, proving once again the viability of this alternative of wood. Aside from the durability and portability of their design, these instruments are fun to play and surprisingly full sounding for their size. Save a tree – and they look cool too!
