MESA/Boogie has officially announced the worldwide return of a high-gain titan: the 90s Triple Rectifier™ Standard.
Handcrafted in Petaluma, California, the 150-watt Class A/B monster head reintroduces the extreme headroom, percussive low-end impact, and dense harmonic saturation that defined 1990s heavy rock and metal production. Following the return of the 90s Dual Rectifier Standard, the Triple Rectifier returns in its original Standard Dress configuration, featuring a black chassis, chrome Speed knobs, Black Bronco vinyl, and a polished aluminum Diamond Plate grille.
Core Circuit Architecture & Tube Power Section
- Direct 2-Channel Architecture: Returns to the straightforward 2-channel design of the original 1990s Solo Heads.
- Channel 1 (Green/Orange LED): Clean and variable High Gain Vintage modes (clonable to Modern Red).
- Channel 2 (Red LED): Aggressive Modern High Gain and variable High Gain Orange modes with a dedicated Normal/Tight low-frequency response switch.
- Wall of Glass Power Section: Driven by six MESA 6L6 power tubes and five 12AX7 preamp tubes. A rear-panel Bias Select switch supports swap-outs to EL34 power tubes without manual re-biasing.
- Patented Selectable Rectification: Features three 5U4GB rectifier tubes for elastic tube sag and bloom, or selectable Silicon Diodes for tight, instantaneous transient attack.
- BOLD/SPONGY Power Switch: Built-in Variac voltage control alters internal plate voltages to adjust dynamic feel, sag, and harmonic compression.
- Loop & Routing Utility: Features a tube-driven series effects loop with global Output Level control, external switching jacks, Slave Output, and five speaker output jacks (16-ohm, 8-ohm, and 4-ohm).

The MikesGig Takeaway
- Massive Low-End Headroom: Cranking six 6L6 power tubes at 150 watts provides unmatched dynamic headroom, keeping low-tuned 7-string guitars and drop-tunings percussive without flubbing out.
- Authentic 2-Channel Simplicity: Returning to the original two-channel circuit layout delivers a simpler signal path with tighter transient response compared to multi-channel iterations.
- Brand New Reliability: Buying a new Petaluma-built reissue backed by MESA’s 5-year warranty eliminates the maintenance headaches and aged capacitors of 30-year-old used 90s heads.
