Production company Resurrection Studios has deployed an array of Marshall Electronics PTZ cameras to drive the visual production for the “An Evening with Emerson, Lake and Palmer” tour.
The tour blends live stage performances by surviving member and drum icon Carl Palmer (alongside Paul Bielatowicz and Simon Fitzpatrick) with remastered archival video of late bandmates Keith Emerson and Greg Lake across large LED stage video walls. Production Manager Steve Supparits expanded the tour’s camera workflow using Marshall CV620, CV730-BHN, and CV625-TW PTZ models to deliver cinematic close-ups and automate live switching.
Production Workflow & Camera Tech Highlights
- Drum Riser Dynamics (CV620): Positioned on a low-profile tripod in front of Carl Palmer’s drum kit, capturing tight close-ups, sweeping audience views, and dynamic stage angles.
- Front-of-House Long-Range Coverage (CV730-BHN & CV625-TW): Mounted at FOH up to 200 feet away to capture long-range stage close-ups and guitar solos, utilizing the CV625’s auto-tracking capabilities to follow musicians across the stage.
- Centralized PTZ Control: Operated by the tour’s video director using a single Marshall VS-PTC-300 Compact PTZ Controller, automating camera movements while simultaneously switching content across three LED video walls.
- Multi-Switcher Output Routing: Features simultaneous output routing to split camera feeds across multiple video switchers, reducing total hardware requirements on tour.
- Lighting Adaptability: Maintains fast autofocus, auto-iris, and color matching under intense, rapidly shifting live stage lighting.

“The audience walks away having witnessed Emerson, Lake & Palmer performing together again… The production has to be absolutely seamless for that to work, and Marshall PTZ cameras have become a critical part of making that happen.”
— Steve Supparits, Owner of Resurrection Studios & Production Manager
“Mixed on screen with the greatly enhanced original concert footage from The Royal Albert Hall, our live on-stage performances blend together seamlessly. Together, they create a live music experience that captures the essence of what ELP was as a live performing act.”
— Carl Palmer, Drummer & Co-Founder of Emerson, Lake & Palmer
The MikesGig Takeaway
- Streamlines Tour Crew Requirements: Centralizing control of multiple PTZ cameras into a single hardware controller allows a single video director to manage live camera moves and video wall switching simultaneously.
- Touring-Grade Chassis Durability: Five years of international touring proves that high-performance PTZ cameras can handle road vibration, transport cases, and live stage rigors without sacrificing optical alignment.
- Long-Range Auto-Tracking: Deploying 4K PTZ cameras with 25x–30x optical zoom and AI auto-tracking at FOH (200 feet away) delivers tight close-ups on musicians without requiring dedicated camera operators on stage.
